Interested in working for hVIVO?
“I am really proud of working for hVIVO. The company is at the frontier of innovation, pioneering some of the most ground-breaking research in respiratory disease and asthma. I am fortunate to be working with some of the most competent, brightest and experienced individuals in different areas of clinical and non-clinical research. This makes my daily experience at work always challenging, exciting and new.”
Andrea Guerra, Study Physician
Renamed from Retroscreen Virology on the 15th April 2015, hVIVO has come a long way since its beginnings as part of the Queen Mary University in 1988.
hVIVO plc today is transformational. Our approach is radically simple. To get to the core of human disease we have developed a technology platform incorporating human models of disease to discover better drugs and diagnostics, and accelerate new product validation. Our belief is that real people hold the key to understanding human biology and this radically simple concept is opening up a brave new world of breakthrough science.
The organisation is a dynamic and pioneering global player in the pharmaceutical early phase research sector, and has more recently and strategically been developing a strong discovery (research and development) focus to investigate human disease to help find better treatments, faster. We are always interested to hear from similarly dynamic and pioneering individuals who share our vision to better understand the more precise nature of human disease and to really make a difference.
The amazing clinical development work performed here is based on the Human Challenge Model and a platform we actually refer to as hVIVO, where healthy (or specific patient population) volunteers are infected by a virus under strict, controlled quarantine conditions. The Human Challenge Model enables fundamental research into the human response to infection, the modes of infection and the transmission between individuals in the community. This provides a vehicle for pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to determine both the safety and efficacy of their new antiviral drugs and/or vaccine candidates, typically to proof of concept.
It also provides a pioneering platform to enable our own research and discovery work.
As a result of this dynamism, and the ever-changing human disease challenges we face, we regularly have opportunities for Physicians, Nurses and Clinicians, for R&D Scientists, not to mention the crucial support functions: business support services including HR, Finance, IT and Facilities roles; business development and marketing: data management, laboratory and volunteer recruitment.
“I haven’t been at hVIVO for a very long time but I have felt welcome from day one. Every day is different, challenging and there’s a real tangible vibrant pace to the business. However, it’s the people that really sets hVIVO apart. Working alongside such a diverse range of backgrounds, cultures, languages and professions, makes working at hVIVO a real experience”
